JOINT DECLARATION
We the Civil Society Organizations of the regions of Centre, West, Far North, North, North West,
Littoral and Adamaoua, gathered around the partner Nouveaux Droit de LHomme (NDH) in the
margins of an activity of the program to improve access to criminal justice, are,
Concerned by the multiple injustices and abuses suffered by women and girls throughout the world
in general and particularly in conflict zones in Cameroon, that is, the Far-North, South-West and
North-West regions,
Worried about reports and testimonials from CSOs such as the Integral Development
Foundation (IDF), Human is Right (HSR), All Women Together (AWT) on violence against
women and girls in the Anglophone crisis (forced marriages to separatists armed groups, rape,
sexual harassment, torture, humiliation …),
Also concerned about the case of baby Annie, who was raped at the age of 3 and half, by a priest
in Ebolowa (South Region) and who does not always have access to justice, and the recent case of
a woman found naked on 02 December 2018 in a gendarmerie cell in Bafoussam (West
Cameroon).
In view of these serious and pertinent facts, and like many others not mentioned here, we,
-? Call on the Cameroonian Government to assume its responsibilities in protecting the human
rights of women and girls,
-? Call on other national and international civil society actors involved in the promotion and
protection of human rights to join this campaign so that justice is done on these cases of violation
(in particular the case of baby Annie),
-? Condemn firmly all forms of injustice and abuses on women and girls in the North West and
South West regions,
– Join our voices to the national and international community to say no to violence against women
and girls.
